- QR Code Scan:
- On the Web page, you will see a QR code displayed.
- Open Application on Your Phone:
- Take your smartphone and open the app.
- Access Web Version Settings:
- For Android: Tap the three vertical dots in the upper-right corner and select “WhatsApp Web.”
- For iPhone: Go to “Settings” within app , and then choose “WhatsApp Web/Desktop.”

This means you cannot directly install and use app on your Apple Watch like you can with some other apps. However, you can still receive notifications on your Apple Watch, and you can reply to them using quick replies or Siri. Here’s how:
- Ensure iPhone Compatibility: Your Apple Watch relies on your iPhone to receive and send messages, so make sure your iPhone is paired with your Apple Watch and that you have the WhatsApp app installed on your iPhone.
- Enable Notifications:
- On your iPhone, go to “Settings.”
- Scroll down and tap on “Notifications.”
- Find “WhatsApp” in the list of apps and tap on it.
- Make sure “Allow Notifications” is turned on.
- Customize WhatsApp Notifications:
- In the same “WhatsApp” settings under Notifications, you can customize how notifications appear on your Apple Watch, including whether you want to receive alerts, sounds, or haptic feedback.

As of my last knowledge update in January 2022, Web and Desktop require a smartphone to be connected and actively linked to your account in order to function. App uses your phone to authenticate and mirror messages between your smartphone and the web or desktop client.
This means that you cannot use WhatsApp on a laptop or desktop computer without a phone. Here’s how you typically use Web or Desktop:
WhatsApp Web
- Open a web browser on your computer and visit the Web version website
- On your smartphone, open the app and tap on the three-dot menu (for Android) or settings gear (for iPhone) in the top right corner.
- Select “WhatsApp Web” from the menu.
- Scan the QR code displayed on the computer screen using your phone’s camera.
- Once the QR code is scanned, your account will be mirrored on the computer, and you can use App from your computer’s web browser. Remember, your phone must be connected to the internet for this to work.
WhatsApp Desktop
